Due to a number of factors, the Workshop Band will now start at the end of the first week on Term 2, on Friday April 21st. If you have any questions about the Workshop Band or would like additional information on joining the band, please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
The Committee is pleased to advise that Jennifer Clutterbuck and Courtney Miller have been appointed as joint conductors for the new Workshop Band. Their biographies will be added to the site very soon. If you would like to contact the band regarding joining, please email email@example.com.
If you weren’t able to attend our Workshop Band information evening last Thursday night, you haven’t missed out on the opportunity to start learning to play an instrument from scratch! If you would like to learn to play a brass or woodwind instrument or percussion, please email firstname.lastname@example.org and you will be sent the information that was handed out at the information evening including the all important application form for the 2017 program.
Every two years we reform the workshop band and go back to raw beginners, so we don’t expect you to have any experience in playing an instrument or reading music to join our program in 2017. We teach you how to do all of this in a 45 minute group tuition session and 45 minute full band session. If you have any questions, please feel free to email email@example.com and you will receive a response as soon as is possible.
Every two years we move our Workshop Band members up into the Community Band and start the Workshop Band with a group of new members who have never played their instrument of choice previously. 2017 is the next year for the start of our new Workshop Band and to prepare, we are holding an information evening on Thursday December 8th at 7pm at Robertson Hall, Geelong College Prep School – enter off Minerva Rd and follow the drive down to the car park on the right – Robertson Hall is in front of the car park. At the information evening, you will be provided with all relevant information and you will be able to try out most of the instruments that we teach through our program including flute, clarinet, saxophones, french horn, trumpet, trombone, euphonium, bass guitar and percussion. The rehearsals will start in early February 2017 and rehearsals will run from 4:30-6:00pm on Friday evenings during school terms. These rehearsals are split into two sessions – 45 minutes of group tuition and 45 minutes of full band rehearsal. If you have any questions, please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
